The Topeka firm expanded with branches at present in Chanute, Concordia and Colby. He also had an interest in the Topeka Highway Mower Co. which was founded by the two brothers.

The Ottawa Foundry and Machine company was the nucleus of what developed into Ottawa Steel Products, Inc., which the two Martin brothers sold in July 1955, to the L. A. Young Cornpany of Detroit. The sale price was more than a million dollars.
