The two daughters and three sons of the couple were present. They are Mrs. Paul Blough of Ottawa, Mrs. Eldon Gilliland, Table Rock, Nebr.; Lee and Wane Martin, near Princeton; and Dean Martin, Wellsville. There are ten grandchildren.

The couple were married Sept. 20, 1905 at the home of the bride's parents in the same neighborhood they now live. Mrs. Martin is the former Maude Collins. The couple started housekeeping in a home about one-half mile east of their present home, where they moved nearly 35 years ago. It is the farm where Mr. Martin was born. Mr. and Mrs. Martin are in fair health.

Charles H. Martin, 75, prominent Topeka business man, and a native of Franklin County and industrialist in Ottawa many years, died early this morning at his home in Topeka. He had been in ill health several years, and seriously ill the past year.

The funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Westminster Presbyterian Church 13th and Boswell, at Topeka, with
interment in Mount Hope cemetery at Topeka.

Martin was born on a farm near Princeton in this county. He attended Ottawa University, and with a younger brother, the late Fred P. Martin, started the Ottawa Foundry and Machine company in 1911, making road culvert forms and other concrete products. They took on a sub-dealership of the Holt Manufacturing company, a predecessor of Caterpillar Co., which was formed in 1925.

The brothers divided the dealership and Charles opened a plant in Topeka as the Martin Tractor Company. Fred, who died several years ago, later joined his brother in Topeka. The Topeka firm expanded with branches at present in Chanute, Concordia and Colby. He also had an interest in the Topeka Highway Mower Co. which was founded by the two brothers.

The Ottawa Foundry and Machine company was the nucleus of what developed into Ottawa Steel Products, Inc., which the two Martin brothers sold in July 1955, to the L. A. Young Cornpany of Detroit. The sale price was more than a million dollars.

Charles H. Martin was married on Aug. 17, 1915, to Miss Elizabeth Koontz, a teacher in Ottawa University. Three children survive, Charles H. Jr., and William W. who were associated in the Topeka business, and Mrs. David Blair of La Jolla, Calif. Eight grandchildren, several nephews and nieces also survive.

The deceased served as president of the Topeka Chamber of Commerce and of the Topeka Rotary club, and was active in Masonic groups. He was a member of Westminster Presyberian Church. He was a director in Topeka First National Bank, and a member of many other Topeka organizations.

He had a keen interest in good roads and soil conservation. His road interest dated from the days of the horse-drawn split log drag, and he was to become associated with the latest in road and construction machinery.
